Qatar Petroleum seals record LNG shipbuilding deals with Korean yards

Qatar Petroleum (QP) has signed what is has called “the largest LNG shipbuilding agreements in history” after reserving “a major portion” of shipbuilding capacity at South Korea’s ‘big three’ shipyards through to 2027, with the deals valued in excess of QAR 70 billion (USD 19.2 billion). The deals, which build on QP’s April capacity booking at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group’s yard in China, are set to deliver over 100 newbuild LNG carriers to serve the firm’s LNG expansion projects in both its home market and abroad.
