US fracking firms have begun to hedge their bets against a Biden presidency by stockpiling federal drilling permits in the run up to the US elections on 3 November. The rush for federal fracking permits comes in anticipation of a new Democrat administration, led by Joe Biden and his VP Kamala Harris – both of whom have vowed to end new drilling leases on federal land. American oil and gas producers have begun stockpiling government permits which allow them to drill for oil and gas on federal lands, in a bid to ensure they can continue drilling on land owned by the government in the event of a Democratic party victory in the upcoming US elections, according to reports.
