OMV Petrom wins tender for Georgia’s offshore Block II, expands Black Sea footprint

Romania’s OMV Petrom has been selected as the preferred bidder for Georgia’s Block II oil and gas exploration licence. A commercial gas discovery would help Georgia wean itself off imports and might offer a quicker route to market than OMVP’s substantial resources located in Romania’s portion of the Black Sea, which remain stuck due to an unfavourable fiscal and regulatory regime.
