FERC greenlights plans to convert mothballed Kenai LNG into an LNG terminal

The US’ maiden LNG plant, Kenai LNG, looks set for a new lease of life after the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved plans by Marathon Petroleum’s subsidiary Trans-Foreland Pipeline to convert the mothballed plant into an LNG terminal. The project plans propose the import of up to four cargoes annually, with the LNG to be used to fill existing storage tanks and boil off gas to be made available for Marathon’s nearby Kenai refinery.
