The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted Lundin Norway a drilling permit for an appraisal well in the Barents Sea offshore Norway. Well 7220/11-5 S in Production Licence 609 (PL 609) will be drilled using the Ocean Rig-owned Leiv Eiriksson semi-submersible rig. Lundin operates PL 609 with a 40% stake, while Idemitsu Petroleum holds 30% and DEA Norge has 30%. PL 609 was awarded in May 2011 under the 21st Licensing Round.
