Romania’s OMV Petrom has kicked off a drilling campaign in the shallow water Istria Block in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea. The two new wells are due to be drilled by the end of the year at a cost of around US $3.5m. The wells will be drilled to a depth of more than 2,000m (6,562ft) at water depths of around 50m (164ft). The probes will target additional production from the Lebada East oil and associated gas field, which was discovered in 1979.
