Australian regulators have approved Santos’ pro- posed acquisition of fellow Australian player Quadrant Energy. Under the proposed deal, which was announced in August, Santos will buy 100% of Quadrant Energy for around US $2.15 Bn, plus potential contingent payments related to resources from the recent Dorado offshore oil discovery. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said it is unlikely that the pro- posed acquisition will result in “a substantial lessen- ing of competition” in the supply of gas to domestic customers in Western Australia.
