The Hakuryu-5 semi-submersible rig has spudded an exploration well off Indonesian for Medco. Rig owner Japan Drilling Company (JDC) said that the Hakuryu-5 had started operations off- shore Natuna. The Hakuryu-5 rig was awarded a contract for two firm wells, expected to take 123 days, by Medco in January 2019. Medco also has two option wells to extend the drilling contract, which would extend the deal for around 98 days.
