Liberty starts Shearwater work

Liberty (formerly Liberty Pipe Mills) has started making the first batch of a total order for 12,000 tonnes of 24-inch steel pipe for Subsea 7. The pipes will be used on Shell’s Shearwater gas field offshore Scotland. Over the next few months workers at Liberty’s base in Hartlepool, northeast England, will make around 35km of heavy-duty pipe that will lie 90m (295ft) subsea, helping channel millions of cubic metres of gas each day to the huge St Fergus onshore terminal in Aberdeenshire, Liberty said.
