The beauty industry has been particularly slow in embracing new media, said Jerry Wind, the Lauder professor and professor of marketing at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. As moderator of The Fragrance Foundation's third annual "Selling Scents" panel discussion, Dr. Wind discovered that a paltry 11 out of an audience of more than 100 had experimented with cell phone marketing, social networking or new media sampling.
