Alpha Moves Closer to FID at North Sea’s Cheviot Field

UK North Sea-focused Alpha Petroleum Resources is edging closer to a final investment decision for its planned Cheviot oil development — one of four potential projects on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) that could get the green light this year. Private equity-backed Alpha has awarded UK-based Awilco Drilling a contract to drill 18 development wells on the Cheviot field in the northern North Sea, starting in the second quarter of 2018. The contractor said Thursday the minimum contract value is $126 million, which includes a firm program of 1,080 days.
