US producer ConocoPhillips has agreed to sell Canadian oil sands and natural gas assets to Canada’s Cenovus Energy in a deal worth US$13.3 billion. The deal marks a further retreat from the oil sands by non-Canadian companies, after recent transactions by Royal Dutch Shell and Marathon Oil (IOD Mar.10’17).
