South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries said Thursday that it has won a 1.53 trillion won ($1.3 billion) contract to build an offshore floating production unit (FPU), which according to local media is bound for BP's Mad Dog Phase 2 in the US Gulf of Mexico. The production unit will have the capacity to produce 110,000 b/d of crude oil and 25 MMcf/ d (258.5 MMcm/yr) of gas and will be delivered by mid-August 2020, Samsung said.
