Husky Energy said it has submitted a preliminary report on a major oil spill last month and said it is “deeply sorry” for what is said to be one of the worst spills ever reported offshore Newfoundland. In the report submitted Friday to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB), Husky said the release happened when a flowline connector failed near the South White Rose Extension drill center, about 350 kilometers (217 miles) east of St. John’s.
