US Firm to Develop Gas at Giant Iraq Oil Field

Iraq has struck a deal with Texas-based Orion Gas Pro to develop gas produced at the giant Nahr bin Umar oil field, as part of a push by Baghdad to utilize its associated gas and phase out flaring by 2021. The little-known US firm signed a memorandum of understanding with the oil ministry on Monday that envisages the US company helping to raise gas production at the field from around 25 million cubic feet per day now to 100-150 MMcf/d.
