Russian Gas Production, Exports Continue to Fall

Russia’s natural gas production fell almost 10% during the first half of this year compared with the same period of 2019, mainly because of a disastrous slump in Gazprom’s exports (IOD Apr.30’20). The country produced 340.8 billion cubic meters of gas in January-June, down 9.7% from the corresponding period of 2019, according to preliminary data from the energy ministry. June output of 47.7 Bcm was 12% lower than in June 2019, marking the fourth consecutive month in which year-on-year declines exceeded 10%.
