Iraq’s Main Refinery Running at 25% of Capacity

Iraq has been forced to cut crude runs at its Basrah refinery to less than 25% of its nameplate capacity of 210,000 barrels per day, due to the collapse in demand for products and a lack of storage space. Operations at the refinery — Iraq’s largest — have been reduced to a minimum because of a sharp fall in gasoline consumption and a lack of storage space, said Hussam Wali, the head of South Refineries Co., which operates the plant.
