Iran Awards South Azadegan Contract to Local Firm

Iran’s Petropars said it has won a contract to more than double oil output at the giant South Azadegan oil field that borders Iraq to 320,000 barrels per day. The signing of the contract on Monday in the presence of Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh shows that US sanctions have forced Tehran to rely on domestic companies to develop its beleaguered oil sector.
