US-Iran Conflict Highlights Asia's Mideast Oil Habit

Tit-for-tat military strikes by the US and Iran have served to remind major oil-importing countries in Asia of their dependence on the volatile Middle East region for much of their supplies. Middle East crude accounted for just under 90% of Japan's overall crude imports of around 3 million barrels per day during the first 11 months of 2019, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (IOD Dec.31'19).
