Some of the leading voices in the fight against climate change have urged the International Energy Agency (IEA) to adopt a central policy scenario in its flagship World Energy Outlook that would enable limiting global warming to 1.5°C (IOD Nov.14' 19). In the latest edition of the World Energy Outlook, published last week, the IEA' s “Stated Policies Scenario” sees global temperatures increasing by at least 2.7°C if the world achieves net-zero emissions by 2070, while its “Sustainable Development Scenario” would limit the increase to 1.8°C.
