China Slaps 5% Tariff on US Crude

In a further escalation of the trade war between the world’s two biggest economies, China hit back on Friday by adding crude oil and several other products to the list of US goods that will be subject to import tariffs from Sep. 1. The 5% tariff on crude imports hits an industry long championed by President Donald Trump, who often touts strong US oil and gas production as a key economic success.
