South Korea continued to take high volumes of US and Latin American crude in August, reflecting a trend this year that has come at the expense of traditional Mideast grades. Korea imported 357,000 b/d of August-arrival US crude, a 51% spike from last year, while also taking 127,000 b/d of Mexican crude, compared to zero last August, according to Korea National Oil Corp. data (IOD Sep.2’19).
