IEA: Iraq to Rise to Fourth-Biggest Oil Producer by 2030

Iraq is set to add some 1.2 million barrels per day to its oil production over the next 10 years, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), representing the third-largest rise in crude output and seeing the country overtake Canada to become the world’s fourth-biggest producer. The Opec country has a current oil output capacity of just over 4.7 million b/d, and has in recent years accepted that it will not get close to Saudi Arabia’s over 12 million b/d of production capacity anytime soon. But it will nevertheless add more production over the next decade than any other country except the US and Brazil, the IEA said in a new report on Iraq’s energy sector published on Thursday.
