Centrica Launches Spirit Sale

Centrica is said to have officially launched the sale of its interest in North Sea producer Spirit Energy, which the company had announced earlier this year in a move to exit the oil and gas business (IOD Jul.31’19). In a document seen by Reuters, Centrica said it planned to sell its 69% stake in Spirit. The remaining 31% interest is held by German utility Stadtwerke Muenchen, which will “evaluate proposals” for a potential cash or share transaction or the entry of a new partner, it said.
