BP to Test New AI Tech Onshore US

BP’s venture capital arm has invested $5 million in an artificial intelligence (AI) start-up firm that has developed a cloud-based geoscience platform, which the UK major hopes will accelerate project life cycles. BP’s head of technology, David Eyton, said the platform, developed by Houston-based Belmont Technology, and dubbed “Sandy,” is expected to unlock critical data for its subsurface engineers much faster than is currently possible.
