Pundits Say Progress on Decarbonization Too Slow

Speakers at a conference in Kuala Lumpur have said the world is not moving fast enough to limit global warming and that investors are likely to punish oil and gas companies for being too slow to diversify away from fossil fuels. Susan Farrell of consultancy IHS Markit said the initial pledges that countries made under the Paris Agreement fall well short of what will be needed to meet the goal of limiting the rise in global temperatures to 2°C.
