CNPC,Petronas Explore Asset Swaps

China National Petroleum Corp.(CNPC)and Malaysia’s Petronas have initiated talks to swap oil and gas assets to help China build its gas portfolio.The two companies have expressed interest in sharing assets in order to make up for each other’s portfolio shortfalls,industry officials tell Energy Intelligence.Petronas is offering overseas gas assets to CNPC,with equity LNG to be shipped back to China.In return,it is seeking access to some oil assets in China.
