Chinese Firms Seal Arctic LNG 2 Stakes

China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) and China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) signed definitive agreements to each buy 10% stakes in Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia. The two Chinese state-controlled companies signed the share purchase agreements with Novatek on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The transactions will be closed in the near future, subject to approvals from the Russian and Chinese authorities, Novatek said.
