China's Sinopec is in talks with UK supermajor BP to work together on shale gas developments in China. Sinopec reportedly said Monday that negotiations continue and cooperation with foreign firms could accelerate development of unconventional oil and gas fields. The Chinese state giant has identified 2,000 sq km in Guizhou province and 1,000 sq km in Jiangsu's Huangqiao as possible areas for cooperation. In November, PetroChina inked a pact to cooperate on a shale gas project in Chengdu in Sichuan province with Royal Dutch Shell (IOD Nov.30,p6).
