Hungary Boosts JKX Earnings

Eastern Europe-focused JKX saw net profits climb 11% year-on-year in the first half to $35.1 million as it ramped up production and benefited from higher prices. London-listed JKX’s revenues rose 33% to $104.5 million as a result of a 56% increase in realized oil prices to $65.97/bbl and a 3% jump in average realized gas prices to $7.41/Mcf. “The increase stems from the introduction of Hungarian gas sales into the group mix, outweighing a slight reduction in price in Ukraine,” JKX said (IOD May6,p7).
