Southern China was bracing itself Thursday for the arrival of Typhoon Megi, which is moving over the South China Sea after leaving 200,000 people homeless in the northern Philippines earlier in the week. Tens of thousands of residents have been evacuated in China抯 Hainan Island and Guangdong and Fujian provinces, and China National Offshore Oil Corp. has reportedly shut in production at some wells in the South China Sea. Hong Kong port reportedly stopped all marine fuel deliveries Thursday, while the ports of Shenzhen and Zhuhai in Guangdong also closed.
