Ireland's Petroceltic said Thursday that its Isarene permit in Algeria's Illizi Basin has an estimated 2.7 Tcf-10.9 Tcf of gas and 17 million-139 million bbl of gross discovered hydrocarbons in place (IOD Feb.3,p2). It said it would soon submit a formal request for a two-year extension to its Isarene production-sharing contract starting Apr. 26 to Algerian authorities. An appraisal work program beginning in the fourth quarter of this year and covering at least three wells has already been agreed with state Sonatrach.
