Turkey Targets Shale

US TransAtlantic Petroleum said Monday that it has signed up to help state Turkish TPAO explore for unconventional resources in Turkey. In the first phase of the agree- ment, TransAtlantic, already active in the Turkish upstream, will participate in two li- censes, one in the Thrace Basin and one in southeastern Turkey. The company will re- enter four wells and drill four new wells over the next year, targeting tight sand and shale formations.
