BG Hires New Board Member

BG Group has named distinguished Ger- man-Brazilian economist Caio Koch-Weser as a nonexecutive director effective Nov. 1. The appointment comes as the UK firm is about to step up its ultradeep Brazilian oil output (IOD Oct.28,p4). Koch-Weser was German deputy finance minister from 1999 to 2005 and chairman of securities regulator BaFin. Prior to that, he worked for 26 years at the World Bank in Washington covering Latin America, China, the Mideast and Africa, eventually becoming its managing director of operations and an executive committee member. He is current- ly a vice chairman of Deutsche Bank.
