Transneft Seeks Pipe Money

Russian pipeline monopoly Transneft is seeking money to finance construction of the Pur-Pe-Zapolyarnoye pipeline, but does not plan on borrowing. The company started building the 500,000-1 million b/d pipe earlier this month, planned to ship oil from the giant Vankor field to the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (Espo) pipeline (IOD Mar.12,p1). Analysts say the Pur-Pe-Zapolyarnoye pipeline could cost $1.5 billion.
