BG said Tuesday that Ashley Almanza will quit as chief financial officer at the end of March 2011 after eight years in that role and a total of 17 years at the UK gas giant. He will be replaced as finance chief by Fabio de Oliveira Barbosa, who was until mid-2010 CFO of Brazilian mining and steel group Vale, the largest private company in Latin America and the second-largest of its type in the world by market capitalization. Before joining Vale in 2002, Barbosa had spent seven years at the Brazilian finance ministry, where he rose to become national treasury secretary, and is also a former World Bank adviser.
