Russia May Rethink Shtokman LNG Plans

Shtokman Development Co. (SDC) has confirmed speculation that the first phase of the giant Barents Sea gas project may go ahead without incorporating plans for LNG exports, given big uncertainties over North American demand. The Gazprom-led operator had been planning to split output from Shtokman's 23.7 billion cubic meter per year first phase 50-50 between piped gas supplies to Europe and the equivalent of 7.5 million tons per year of LNG.
