The Gazprom-led Nord Stream pipeline has completed over half of the first of its two 1,224 km gas pipelines beneath the Baltic Sea. Construction of Line 1 is progressing “on schedule” and will start flowing Russian gas to Germany in late 2011. Up to 30 ships have been involved at any one time.
