Lukoil Goes Green

Russia’s biggest private oil producer, Lukoil, is diversifying into green energy. Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov told the annual shareholders meeting Thursday that his company had inked a memorandum of intention with a subsidiary of Italian refiner Erg on cooperation in developing alternative energy projects in Eastern Europe and Rus- sia. Wind power is a priority, he said. Lukoil owns 49% of Erg’s Isab refinery in Sicily.
