Novel use of sildenafil in the management of pulmonary hypertension due to post-catheter ablation ‘stiff left atrial syndrome’

Catheter ablation is an established therapy for symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF). Although the rate of peri-procedural complications is low and declining, multiple procedures are often required to achieve a higher success of freedom from AF [[1], [2]]. Recently, the ‘stiff left atrial syndrome’ has been recognized as a complication due to extensive ablation [3]. However, the optimal management of this remains unclear. Here we report a novel management strategy of ‘stiff left atrial syndrome’ with sildenafil.
