US styrene faces upward pressure from tighter supply, higher upstream benzene

HOUSTON (ICIS)--The US styrene market continues to deal with overall soft demand amid the economic slowdown created by efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus, but tighter supply and an uptick in feedstock benzene are supporting higher spot values. US styrene supply has tightened as producer INEOS Styrolution has its Texas City, Texas, plant down for scheduled maintenance. The plant was scheduled to restart in April.
