Asia freight rates outlook soft on stricter coronavirus-related measures

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--The outlook for the Asian freight market is likely to soften in the near term due to stricter measures implemented by port authorities in the region with regards to the coronavirus. Discussions for a 3,000 tonne cargo on the Korea-to Ningbo route were stable-to- soft by $2/tonne at the high end week on week at $23-29/tonne, while those for a 3,000 tonne shipment on the Korea-to-Zhuhai route were similarly lower at $26- 30/tonne, according to ICIS data in the week ended 5 February.
