US ACN availability to tighten with Cornerstone force majeure, INEOS US Lima turnaround

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Outages are expected to tighten US acrylonitrile (ACN) availability in November against the backdrop of rebounding demand in the domestic market and continued strong demand in the export amid other ongoing outages globally. Cornerstone Chemical Company had an unplanned shutdown at its 240,000 tonnes/year US Waggaman, Louisiana, site after Hurricane Zeta caused power disruptions in the area on 28 October. The shutdown prompted Cornerstone to declare force majeure on ACN and acetonitrile, according to a customer letter obtained by ICIS.
