China acetic acid to face tight domestic supply on low stocks, plant glitches

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's domestic acetic acid supply is expected to remain tight in the near term because of low stocks and frequent plant glitches in the summer season. Inventories available for trading remain as low as 80,000-90,000 tonnes, much lower than the usual level of 120,000 tonnes, though it has increased from 70,000-80,000 tonnes in the previous two weeks. Deliveries from producers in north China and Henan are still slow, while shipments from east China are unstable in the face of high water levels in the Yangtze River, with some shipments delayed. Domestic unit operations play an important role in the summer supply market, given frequent plant glitches.
