US glycol ethers markets see signs of slow, steady recovery

HOUSTON (ICIS)--While US May glycol ethers volumes were mostly flat or weaker month on month, one seller saw more orders in May, although those gains did not equate to more volume either. The uptick in orders, however, has prompted some optimism that June may bring some measurable recovery. Many market participants hope low May volumes represent a floor. And near-term pricing for butyl glycol (BG), butyl di-glycol (BDG), propylene glycol methyl ether (PM) and propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PMA) may be more stable after May propylene settled at a rollover following relatively steady declines since last October.
