Europe PET prices rise H1 July, optimism dims in face of poor economic outlook

LONDON (ICIS)--Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sellers’ proposed July increases resulted in more interest from buyers concerned that the low prices were on the way out. Still, optimism over the easing of lockdowns is dissipating with fears of growing unemployment figures. "Regarding pessimistinc overviews for the future yes, we think autumn can show the real economic situaiton, when people start paying their heating bills...people losing jobs and demand should decrease but not until the second part of autumn," a seller said.
