China 2-EH margins hit record high as short supply boosts prices

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Production margins in China’s 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) industry surged to a record high as prices spiked on the back of tight supply, which may remain in the near term. In the week ended 16 November, the margins stood at yuan (CNY) 2,759.5/tonne - the highest level since ICIS started tracking the data in August 2019 - aided by weaker prices of feedstock propylene.
