HOUSTON (ICIS)--Chemical companies are redoubling efforts to strengthen their supply chains after the stress they suffered from the coronavirus. "Demand patterns completely changed overnight," said Duane Dickson, US Oil, Gas & Chemicals sector leader at Deloitte. He made his comments in an interview with ICIS. During the initial days of the pandemic, companies were confronted with both gluts and shortages. Demand surged for alcohols used in disinfectants and plastic fibres used in masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE). It fell for products connected to aircraft and automobiles, such as styrene butadiene rubber (SBR).
