Poland gears up for life without Russian gas

Poland is boosting LNG import capacity by 50pc by December 2021 to further diversify its gas supply before its contract for Russian pipeline imports expires at the end of 2022. State-owned Polskie LNG awarded a 123mn zlotys ($31mn) construction con- tract this week for the expansion of its 3.6mn t/yr Swinoujscie import terminal on the Baltic Sea to 5.4mn t/yr (7.5bn m3/yr) of pipeline gas. The capacity will come on line gradually in 2022-24, Polskie LNG says.
