Agrium sells Conda, North Bend plants

Canada-based fertilizer producer Agrium has sold its superphosphoric acid (SPA) and nitric acid businesses in order to address US regulatory concerns over its pending merger with PotashCorp. Agrium will sell its phosphate plant and adjacent mine in Conda, Idaho, to Brazil-based Itafos for $100mn. The Conda facility can produce 340,000 t/yr of MAP and 170,000 t/yr of other phosphate products, including SPA. The adjacent Rasmussen Ridge mine, which can produce 1.3mn t/yr of concentrated phosphate rock with an average 32pc P2O5 content.
